About

Hi, I'm Brian Paglia  ðŸ‘‹ the creator of Backyard Baseball HQ!

This blog helps families of young baseball players continue to learn and enjoy the game even when the season is over!

I have two young baseball-obsessed kids.

They're the kind that sleeps in their uniforms the night before a game.

Or listen to the local MLB team's game broadcast over the internet while taking a bath or shower at night.

Or wake me up (before my alarm!) to play some catch first thing in the morning.

I've asked them if they want to play other sports; I really have. But, nope, it's just baseball for them.

They're so obsessed that the baseball playing doesn't stop when their team practices finish or the seasons are over. On off-days and during the offseason, these kids are hounding me to get in the backyard or on a nearby field and keep the fun and learning going.

And the truth is, as a lifelong baseball fan, I love it.

But I also want to make the most of those backyard practices, with two goals in mind:

  1. Help their skills develop little by little.
  2. Continue to fuel their love of the game.
The only thing is I didn't feel extra-qualified to coach them.

Sure, I played baseball growing up, even for a few years in high school. But I got by mostly on instinct and copying what I saw the pros doing. I never had much formal training.

So pretty quickly I started doing two things:

  1.  I closely listened to and observed how and what my kids' coaches were teaching them.
  2. I scoured the internet for even more information and tips on youth baseball coaching and training.

And now, I want to start sharing everything I'm learning with you!

From coaching tips to equipment recommendations, this site should have something to help you find easy and engaging ways to continue the baseball fun at home.
